YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has welcomed the High Court’s suo motu direction to hand over to the CBI the case pertaining to the arrest of the party’s social media activist Kunchala Savindra Reddy.

In a post on X on Saturday, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said the court’s decision revealed the alarming state of affairs in Andhra Pradesh, where the police, under the TDP-led coalition government, “have been crushing dissent and curbing free speech, disregarding several court directions.” Fabricated cases, illegal arrests, and misuse of Section 111 had become routine, he said.
