
Staff members removing LPG cylinders from Hotel Highland in Thampanoor following a fire incident that originated from the kitchen on the upper floor of the hotel, in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday

A fire broke out at the Hotel Highland at Thampanoor, prompting the swift evacuation of hotel guests on Friday evening. No casualties were reported in the incident, according to the Fire and Rescue Services.
The fire broke out in the chimney of the hotel kitchen, following which smoke filled the ground and first floors, according to Fire and Rescue personnel. The Fire and Rescue unit at the nearby Chenkalchoola received the alarm around 5.15 p.m. following which four fire tenders were despatched to the hotel which is situated on the Manjalikulam Road.
The fire was put out by 6.30 p.m., according to the Fire and Rescue Services, Chenkalchoola unit. The Fire and Rescue personnel were led by District Fire Officer Sooraj, Station Officer Aneesh Kumar and Senior Fire and Rescue Officer Jithesh Babu.
