The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested a Panchayat Raj assistant engineer while accepting a bribe of ₹10,000 in Karimnagar district for processing official records related to works executed under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).
The accused, Paidi Sathish, Assistant Engineer (Panchayat Raj) of Choppadandi mandal and formerly posted at Gangadhara mandal, was apprehended by the ACB’s Karimnagar range unit.
According to the ACB, Sathish demanded and accepted the bribe from a complainant in return for recording and entering measurements of cement concrete works executed under the MGNREGS in the measurement book and forwarding the records to the Deputy Executive Engineer for further processing.
The agency said the tainted money was recovered from beneath the seat of the accused’s two-wheeler.
Following the trap, Sathish was arrested and produced before the special court for SPE and ACB cases in Karimnagar. The investigation is ongoing, while the identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.
