The High Court on Tuesday (July 7, 2026) granted eight days police custody of suspended CI Nagaraju and asked the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to question the latter in Vijayawada.

Earlier, the Second Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate Court had granted eight days police custody, but directed the SIT officers to question Mr. Nagaraju in Rajahmundry Central Prison, where the arrested CI is being held in judicial custody.

However, the SIT filed a petition in the High Court challenging the lower court’s order, and urged to shift the accused to Krishnalanka police station in Vijayawada for conducting investigation, scene reconstruction, and gathering evidence in the case. The High Court directed the investigation officers to videograph the questioning.
