The Taliparamba Sub-Divisional Magistrate has ordered the exhumation of the body of a young man from Iriveri near Chakkarakkal following allegations that medical negligence led to his death at a hospital in Bengaluru.

The order was issued on a petition filed by the deceased’s family. The body of Shahnavas will be exhumed on July 7, and a second post-mortem will be conducted to ascertain the cause of death. The family has alleged that Shahnavas died after undergoing surgery for piles at Bengaluru’s Victoria Government Hospital and has accused the hospital of medical negligence. His wife had earlier lodged a complaint, following which the Bengaluru police registered a case against the hospital authorities.

The second post-mortem will be conducted by a team of experts. The report is expected to help ascertain the exact cause of death and will be submitted to the investigating team as part of the ongoing probe.
