As part of measures to curb road accidents, Kurnool district police have intensified enforcement as well as road safety awareness programs across the district. Police have registered 21,977 various traffic violations in the last six months during the enforcement drives.

According to officials, the district police have taken strict action against those violating traffic rules between January 1, 2026, and June 30, 2026. In the past six months, 4,302 cases of over-speeding, 3,272 cases of riding without a helmet, 1,303 cases of driving while using a mobile phone, 4,464 cases of drunken driving and 8,274 cases of drinking in public places, 306 cases of triple riding, and 56 cases of driving by minors were registered.

The police appealed to the public to strictly adhere to traffic regulations, urged two-wheeler riders to wear helmets, and advised against handing over vehicles to minors or driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police said special awareness programs are being conducted continuously across the district to raise public awareness regarding traffic rules.
