The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government in Tamil Nadu will ensure that all MoUs it signs for investments in the State are executed, said the Minister for Industries S. Keerthana in Coimbatore on Friday.

“The earlier government did not commission 25 % of the MoUs that were signed during its regime. We will not sign MoUs randomly. We will ensure that all MoUs signed for investment in the State are executed,” she said.

The government plans to study the potential of each district for various sectors, have tie up with colleges to train candidates for the potential industries, and attract investments accordingly. This will ensure availability of skilled manpower for an industry that invests in the State.

South India should be the preferred destination for high value industries. “We are investing in future industries such as electric mobility, clean energy, artificial intelligence, and advanced manufacturing,” she said at a meeting with the members of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) – Southern Region.

Tamil Nadu does not make “d” and “e” category components for the electronics sector. The youth move to other States for jobs. So, we need to provide high value jobs here. We need to develop roads, power, and social infrastructure. This government will provide bribe-free and transparent administration. We want to work (with you) as a family and grow together,” she said at the meeting. There are also plans to set up a research and development centre in the delta region, develop an industrial corridor, and showcase the strengths of Tamil Nadu, she added.

The Minister launched the CII – Southern Region’s “CII Sprint 2030” programme for MSMEs.
