The next time you order food or step into a restaurant, the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation’s (CMC) latest inspection report may be worth a look. The CMC has released the hygiene scores of 39 restaurants, cafes, schools, central kitchens and other food businesses inspected by the corporation’s food safety team in June, with ratings ranging from 18% to 94%, highlighting wide variations in food safety and hygiene standards.

. While some popular restaurants and schools emerged with top ratings, several well-known eateries and food businesses were pulled up for poor hygiene, prompting Improvement Notices and other enforcement measures.

Five establishments shared the highest hygiene score of 94%. These included 10 Pounder Pizzeria near SMR Vinay Technopolis, PVR Inox at Inorbit Mall, Cinepolis at Lulu Mall, Chirec International School in Kondapur and The Gaudium School in Kollur. The Rameshwaram Cafe near Image Gardens followed with 93%, while Sattibabu Biryani near KIMS, Kondapur scored 92%.

Among other prominent establishments, KFC in Nizampet scored 86%, Inox at GSM Mall, Madeenaguda received 85%, while Antera in Madeenaguda secured 83%. KS Bakers, Chinese Wok at GSM Mall and Glendale International School Cambridge in Gopanpally each recorded 82%.

Ratings between 18% and 56%

At the other end of the spectrum, Royal Spice Restaurant in Gachibowli received the lowest hygiene score of 18%. Zayaka Food Court near AMB Mall scored 25%, Platform 65 at PNR Empire received 37%, and Bahar Café in Madeenaguda scored 40%. The Food Planet at Chandanagar, Lingampally secured 51%, Swagruha Foods at Gajularamaram received 54%, while The Spice Kitchen in PNR Empire scored 56%.

Between 60% and 67%

Several other popular establishments fell in the middle of the rankings. La Pino’z Pizza in Jubilee Enclave, Mehfil Restaurant in Hitec City, Ideal Kitchen in Madhapur and Pancha Kattu Dosa in Nizampet each scored 67%. Shah Ghouse Restaurant on Raidurg-Gachibowli Road and Protein Chef scored 65%, while Zomato Hyperpure’s warehouse in IDA Kukatpally received 63%. Kodikura Chittigare scored 62%, Iguru Restaurant 61%, and Subway, Kanchi Café and Palamuru Grill Bar & Restaurant each scored 60%.

The food safety inspections assessed hygiene standards, food handling practices, pest control measures, storage conditions, labelling, record maintenance and compliance with Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) norms. Food samples were collected wherever necessary, Improvement Notices were issued to establishments with deficiencies, and enforcement action was initiated in cases warranting regulatory intervention.
