Navalgund MLA N.H. Konaraddi has said that to build a polio-free society, all parents must ensure that their children receive the polio vaccine without fail.

Inaugurating the National Pulse Polio Programme by administering polio drops to children in Dharwad on Sunday, Mr. Konaraddi said that everyone should contribute towards creating a polio-free society.

Mr. Konaraddi called upon every parent to take full advantage of the Pulse Polio campaign and ensure that all their children below five years of age are administered the polio vaccine.

He said that the campaign has been systematically organised across the district by setting up 891 Pulse Polio booths.

Steps have been taken to ensure that Health Department staff are available at these centres to administer the vaccine to children, he said.

The MLA said that the government alone is not responsible for maintaining a polio-free status and it is the duty of every parent.

“Vaccinating a child against polio is like providing security for their future,” he said.

Hubballi-Dharwad Mayor Jyoti Patil, Deputy Commissioner Snehal R., District Surgeon Sangappa Gabi and others took part in the programme.

Similarly legislators, senior officials formally inaugurated the Pulse Polio campaign at various places in the district by administering polio drops to children below the age of five years.
