Nearly 3 lakh children to be covered under Pulse Polio drive in Raichur

Raichur Deputy Commissioner Poovitha S. launched the Pulse Polio administration drive in Raichur on Sunday.

A Pulse Polio vaccination programme has been implemented in the district and all children, from newborns to under 5 years of age, should be given polio drops without fail, she said.

“The staff of the Health Department, who have been entrusted with the purpose, should ensure that all eligible children are administered the drops,” the Deputy Commissioner said.

The district has a total of 2,69,002 children under 5 years of age and is ready with 3,29,000 doses. As many as 1,260 teams, including 1,176 house visit teams, 53 transit teams and 32 mobile teams, are going to visit 4,50,732 houses.

A total of 2,530 vaccination workers, 248 supervisors and five taluk officers will be working during the drive, the Deputy Commissioner said.

A total of 827 critical locations have been identified in the district and department staff, RIMS, SKE, Nandani Nursing College, Navodaya Medical College, local nursing college students and anganwadi workers, where necessary, are participating in the vaccination work at bus stops, railway stations and markets.

District Health Officer Surendra Babu, Deputy Director of Health Services, Kalaburagi Division, A.S. Rudravadi, District RCH Officer Nandita, Tahsildar Suresh Varma, DDPI Mallikarjun, Taluk Health Officer Amrut Hukkeri, Medical Officer Isfaq Ahmed, ECO Raghavendra, Trivikram Joshi, Pawan Kishore Patil, K. Lakshmikanta Reddy, Chandrashekhar and Eshwar H. Dasappanavar were present.
