The AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, on Saturday (June 27, 2026), announced that former MLA of Shozhinganallur, K.P. Kandan, had been eased out of the post of district secretary for Chennai (suburban) unit of the party.

Mr. Kandan, who represented the constituency during 2011-16, was fielded twice by the party in 2021 and 2026, on both of which he lost.

There were reports that he would join the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

Another functionary of the district unit, K.P.K. Satishkumar, had also been relieved of the post, a release said.
