BJP state unit president Nainar Nagenthran on Thursday criticised Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay for not having met families of those who died in the recent ammonia leak at a factory in Tiruvallur district.

“When you keep meeting those from the cine industry every day, you don’t have time or the mind to meet the families of the deceased and console them? Or will they get words of consolation only if they come to Panaiyur [where the residence of Mr. Vijay is located],” he asked in a social media post.

He reiterated his criticism against the TVK-led government over the lack for safety for women, and involvement of TVK partymen in various offences, among others.

In another post, on the occasion of the ‘Constitution Murder Day’ being observed by the BJP to mark the imposition of the Emergency in 1975 by the then Indira Gandhi government, Mr. Nagenthran said it was a collective duty of the people to strengthen democratic institutions and to prevent such circumstances from recurring.
