A dispute at a roadside eatery cart escalated and resulted in the murder of a 30-year-old autorickshaw driver near the Gunj area in Kalaburagi city, in Karnataka, on June 23 night.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Raiz, a resident of Noorbagh Colony.

According to the police, Raiz was operating his autorickshaw as usual on June 23. Around 10 p.m., he visited a roadside eatery near a local bar at Nehru Gunj. An argument reportedly broke out between Raiz and a group of youths who were consuming alcohol at the spot.

The verbal altercation quickly turned violent. The group of youths allegedly assaulted Raiz, and stabbed him repeatedly with lethal weapons before fleeing from the spot.

Residents rushed a heavily bleeding Raiz to a nearby hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after being admitted to a hospital, due to severe blood loss.

Upon receiving the information, police personnel from the Chowk Police Station visited both the crime scene and the hospital to conduct a preliminary inquiry, and registered a case.
