Tiruvallur ammonia gas leak: Death toll rises to 10

The death toll in the ammonia gas leak at a seafood processing and export facility in Tiruvallur district rose to 10 on Wednesday (June 24, 2026) after another woman worker from Odisha died.

According to the media bulletin issued by the Tamil Nadu Health department, the victim was identified as Subasi Juanga.

A total of 83 individuals were reported as affected by the incident that occurred on June 21. Of them, 68 individuals are currently receiving treatment and are under medical observation. Among them, 65 are women and three men. Based on their current status, 17 patients are on ventilator support, 21 patients are receiving nasal oxygen and 30 patients are stable. Five persons were discharged after treatment.
