Senior officials have been directed to obtain a comprehensive report from the IISc on the city’s groundwater levels and the current status of functioning borewells.

Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) chairperson N. Manjula has directed senior board officials to proactively take precautionary measures to ensure that potential water scarcity in the coming days due to low rainfall does not trigger a drinking water crisis in the city.
Ms. Manjula reviewed the board’s preparedness to address possible water shortages arising from inadequate rainfall. She held detailed discussions with officials on the current water levels in the Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) reservoir and emphasised the need for its prudent utilisation.
“All appropriate and necessary arrangements must be made from now itself to address any potential issues that may arise in the future,” she said. She also discussed the feasibility of supplying water to the city from the Hemavati and Kabini reservoirs as an alternative arrangement.
Further, Ms. Manjula instructed senior officials to obtain a comprehensive report from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) on the city’s groundwater levels and the current status of functioning borewells.
