The Special Investigation Team (SIT) police questioned the then Krishnalanka Circle Inspector (CI) S.S.V.V. Nagaraju in Gade Sai Krishna’s alleged custodial death case after he was taken into custody on Tuesday from a location in Ajith Singh Nagar.

Government constituted an SIT, headed by Inspector General of Police (IGP) M. Ravi Krishna, Superintendents of Police Adnan Nayeem Asmi and Amit Bardar and Additional SP L. Sudhakar, to investigate into the alleged illegal detention, and custodial death in Sai Krishna’s case.

With the rumours spreading that Task Force police picked up Sai Krishna from Markapuram on May 9, SIT officials also reportedly questioned Task Force Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) K. Latha Kumari and the constables who took the victim into custody.

Investigation officers also questioned the Sub-Inspectors (SIs), Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) and constables attached to Krishnalanka police station.

It is learnt that Mr. Ravi Prakash and his team grilled the suspended CI on why and in which case Sai Krishna was arrested, for how many days he was in the custody of Task Force police, on which date the victim was handed over to Krishnalanka police and his condition when he was brought to the police station.

The SIT officers asked the CI for how many days Sai Krishna was detained in the police station, whether the arrest was entered in the General Diary (GD), and if he had alerted the South Zone ACP, DCP and the NTR Police Commissioner on the arrest, and if not, why, and if the police conducted medial examination for Sai Krishna before the arrest.

Investigation officers questioned Mr. Nagaraju on who interrogated Sai Krishna, whether third degree was used in the lock-up, and how many police personnel were involved in the interrogation.

The victim’s mother, Gade Vijaya Lakshmi alleged that police illegally detained Sai Krishna for several days and tortured him severely. When she went to the police station and asked the CI, Nagaraju, about her son, the latter replied that Sai Krishna was no more and abused her, Ms. Vijaya Lakshmi alleged.
