YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) State SC Cell president and former MLA T.J.R. Sudhakar Babu on Sunday criticised Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, demanding that he withdraw his recent remarks against the YSRCP and answer questions relating to the death of Sai Krishna and the alleged custodial death case in Vijayawada.

Addressing a press conference at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli, Mr. Sudhakar Babu said it was inappropriate for Mr. Pawan Kalyan, who holds the constitutional office of Deputy Chief Minister, to make what he described as irresponsible comments against the opposition party.

He alleged that the State government was attempting to divert public attention from the controversy surrounding Sai Krishna’s death and the subsequent suicide of Kranti Kumar. Seeking clarity on the circumstances that led to Sai Krishna’s death, he urged the government to identify the police personnel allegedly involved and ensure that they face an impartial legal inquiry.

Defending YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s visit to Sai Krishna’s family, Mr. Sudhakar Babu said the opposition leader had only extended support to a family grieving the loss of a loved one and seeking justice. He maintained that such gestures should not be politicised.

Calling for impartial investigations into both the Sai Krishna death case and the Kranti Kumar suicide case, Mr. Sudhakar Babu alleged that the ruling coalition was evading accountability. He said the YSRCP would continue to pursue the issue until justice was served and those responsible were brought to book.
