Three employees of a jewellery showroom in Jubilee Hills have been arrested for allegedly stealing gold ornaments weighing more than 76 grams from their workplace over several months.

The accused, Bhukya Shiva Kumar, Vaddaram Prakash and Patri Govardhan, were arrested by the Jubilee Hills police on Friday, June 19, near the Peddamma Gudi Metro Station in connection with a theft case registered following a complaint from the proprietor of SKT Jewellers on Road No. 36.

According to the police, the case came to light after stock verification conducted in March revealed that gold ornaments weighing about 8.2 grams were missing from the repair section of the showroom. During a subsequent review in June, a customer sample gold chain and other gold items weighing around 30.14 grams were also found missing.

The complainant further informed police that a gold chain weighing about 38 grams had gone missing from the showroom in July 2025.

During the investigation, police examined CCTV footage and recorded witness statements, which allegedly pointed to the involvement of showroom employees. Based on the evidence collected, officers traced and apprehended the three accused.

Police said a gold ring weighing approximately 5.28 grams, suspected to be part of the stolen property, was recovered from the possession of Shiva Kumar.

Investigators alleged that the accused had stolen gold ornaments on different occasions while working at the showroom and later disposed of the stolen property through unauthorised channels. The total quantity of gold allegedly stolen in the case is about 76.385 grams.

During questioning, the accused reportedly disclosed that a portion of the stolen gold had been sold through a hallmarking centre and to gold dealers in the Warangal region. Police said efforts are underway to recover the remaining stolen property and identify any other persons involved in the disposal of the gold.
