Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda on Friday (June 19, 2026) held his first high-level review meeting with senior officials of the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) after recently taking charge of the portfolio, outlining fresh timelines for key stretches of Namma Metro’s Phase 2.
Addressing a press conference, the Minister said that the elevated section of the Pink Line from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere is expected to be operational by August 15, 2026. The underground stretch from Tavarekere to Nagawara is slated for completion by March 2027.

Of the total length, 13.8 km runs underground, linking key central areas such as Dairy Circle, M.G. Road, Shivajinagar and Tannery Road, while 7.5 km is elevated.
Repeated delays
The project has witnessed repeated delays, missing multiple deadlines, drawing criticism from commuters. The corridor is expected to significantly ease north–south connectivity once operational.
Providing updates on the Blue Line, Mr Gowda said that the trial runs on the KR Pura–Marathahalli–HSR Layout section are likely to begin by October 2026. The Hebbal–Kempegowda International Airport stretch is targeted for commissioning by June 2027, while the KR Pura–Hebbal segment is expected to be completed by December 2027.
Emphasising the need for urgency, the Minister directed BMRCL officials to accelerate project execution. “The pace of work must improve with a concerted effort to meet public expectations,” he said during the meeting.
