Plus One admission: First allotment released

The Directorate of General Education (DGE) published the first allotment for single-window Plus One higher secondary admissions for the 2026-27 admission year on Sunday. A staggering 4,44,772 applications were processed for an available pool of 3,15,874 general seats, which increases to 3,17,902 seats when accounting for additional mandatory allocations for differently-abled students.

In the first round of allotments, as many as 2,46,638 seats were allotted, leaving a vacancy of 71,264 seats across various quotas and community reservations in the State. The demand-supply gap remains severely pronounced in the northern districts, particularly Malappuram, where several thousands of applicants are left waiting for allotments after the first round.

Malappuram leads

Malappuram continues to top the State with the highest number of applications at 82,753. he district also received the maximum number of seat allocations in the State, with 40,554 students accommodated, leaving 17,301 vacancies to be contested by 42,199 students in the second allotment. Notably, the district’s general merit quota is completely exhausted, with all 26,844 available seats fully allotted.

In terms of vacancies, Kannur (8,176) and Kozhikode (7,799) trail behind Malappuram. Student admissions based on the first allotment will commence from 10 a.m. on Monday and will continue until 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Those who receive the first option in the allotment round are advised to pay the fee and take permanent admission. Students who receive allotment to other options can take permanent or temporary admission. There is no need to remit fee for temporary admission.

The office of the DGE has cautioned that any candidate who fails to secure at least a temporary admission after receiving an allotment will be permanently excluded from all subsequent allotment phases.
