A 55-year-old man has been arrested in Yaraganahalli village in the Terakanambi Police Station limits in Chamarajanagar district after he allegedly killed his son during a drunken altercation on Thursday.

The police said the deceased Siddaraju, 32, who works as a mason, reportedly used to come home intoxicated and frequently quarrelled and harassed his parents, Sidde Gowda and Mahadevamma.

On the night of Thursday, June 11, Siddaraju, under the influence of alcohol, reportedly picked up a quarrel over his marriage and property-related issues.

During the altercation, Sidde Gowda reportedly pushed his son to the ground and struck him with a cement brick, the police said. As a result, Siddaraju suffered severe bleeding and died on the spot.

Based on the complaint lodged by the deceased’s mother, Mahadevamma, a case was registered at Terakanambi Police Station. The body was subsequently moved to the Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences for post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s father Sidde Gowda, a daily wager, was arrested, the police said.
