Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu accused BRS leaders K.T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao of deliberately misinterpreting Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s remarks on HYDRAA and attempting to create a political controversy where none existed.

Addressing a press conference here, he said the Chief Minister’s reference to ‘Hitler’ during a discussion in The Hindu Huddle programme was used in a figurative sense to describe determination in achieving a goal.

“He used the term to convey the iron resolve required to protect lakes, government lands and public resources from encroachers,” the Minister said. Comparing the remark to a common expression used to describe a person who relentlessly pursues a goal, he said the opposition was twisting the context for political mileage. A Telugu film ‘Hitler’ was a huge hit but it naming the film after Hitler doesn’t mean there is support for him, he reminded.

Mr. Sridhar Babu alleged that BRS leaders were unable to digest the success of HYDRAA in reclaiming government lands and water bodies from encroachers. “Why should BRS leaders be upset if government lands and lakes are being protected?” he asked and said the agency was functioning strictly within the framework of law and the Constitution.

BRS believes in distortion

Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy slammed the BRS and BJP for twisting Mr Revanth Reddy’s remarks and said the Chief Minister was highlighting HYDRAA’s structured and effective functioning in protecting lakes, ponds, government lands, nalas and the Musi River from encroachments.

“Politics can continue, but protecting Hyderabad is a collective responsibility. HYDRAA has benefited lakhs of people and should be supported by all,” he said alleging BRS was more interested in ‘Goebbels-style propaganda’.

KCR supported Hitler

Meanwhile, Congress media committee Chairman Sama Ram Mohan Reddy released a video where BRS chief KCR, as the Chief Minister, said he doesn’t mind being referred to as Hitler, if his actions hurt the corrupt and those misusing the government’s money. “Revanth Reddy also wants to be a Hitler against land grabbers,” Mr. Reddy said.
