A team of district administration officers has convinced the family members of Kamalamma Katti, a woman from Salolli village who was abandoned by her family, to take her back.

Kamalamma Katti was abandoned by her family in Munavalli of Belagavi district on Tuesday.

The team of officers took the woman to hospital for a health check-up on Wednesday.

Santosh Katti was counselled to take his mother back home.

“The team that included two women officers ensured that the woman was taken home and cared for,” officers said.

Meanwhile, the former Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar has instructed officials to take steps to ensure proper rehabilitation of the woman.

She has also sought strict legal action against Santosh Katti, a NWKRTC employee from Salolli village, who abandoned his mother near the Naviluteertha Dam on Tuesday.

The former Minister for Empowerment of Women, Children and Senior Citizens said that such inhuman treatment of elders is unacceptable.

She requested Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan and Superintendent of Police K. Ramarajan to take steps to provide treatment and security to the woman and initiate action against her son who abandoned her.
