Tamil Nadu Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management K.A. Sengottaiyan, on Tuesday (June 2, 2026), said the State government has taken all preparatory measures for the southwest monsoon.

Speaking to journalists in Chennai, Mr. Sengottaiyan said as the southwest monsoon has commenced, the State government is continuously monitoring the situation through radar systems at three locations. Further, officials have been conducting inspections in various districts.

“The Revenue and Disaster Management Department is functioning round the clock, and preparations are in full swing. Various agencies and volunteers are also on standby to ensure swift response and relief operations. Steps have also been taken to seek necessary assistance from the Centre,” he said.

He said he has consulted with the Electricity Minister regarding possible power outages during rains and measures to be taken to prevent power supply disruptions.
