The government is set to take a major step towards strengthening healthcare security for its employees and pensioners with the implementation of the Employee Health Scheme (EHS).
A circular has been issued directing all departments to furnish details of serving employees, pensioners and their family members. Departments have been instructed to upload the required data by May 31.
Preparatory work for the scheme has already begun, with the Finance Department initiating the collection of beneficiary data from various government departments. Based on the information collected, the government plans to issue digital health cards to beneficiaries and facilitate cashless medical treatment at empanelled hospitals.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is expected to conduct a review meeting with senior officials on the modalities of implementing the scheme on June 1.
Officials said the initiative is aimed at ensuring comprehensive healthcare coverage and hassle-free access to medical services for government employees, pensioners and their dependents across the state.
The Employee Health Scheme will be administered through the Employee Health Care Trust, which is proposed to oversee the functioning and delivery of healthcare services under the programme. According to official sources, the trust will comprise six representatives from employee unions and two representatives from pensioners’ associations. A serving state government employee will be appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the trust. The government is likely to announce the constitution of the trust committee shortly.
