S.G. Siddaramaiah, actor Jayamala among honorary doctorate awardees of Nrupathunga University

Writer S.G. Siddaramaiah and veteran actress and president of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) Jayamala and four other dignitaries will be conferred with honorary doctorate degrees at Nrupathunga University’s second and third annual convocation.

Civil engineer and technical expert for irrigation projects K. Jaiprakash, former chairman of Karnataka Nataka Academy Srinivas G. Kappanna, retired IPS officer S. Mariswamy, and Jawahar Bal Bhavan Society secretary Nischal B.H. are also on the honorary doctorate list.

Governor of Karnataka and Chancellor of the University, Thawarchand Gehlot, will present the honorary doctorates at a function on June 2, 2026 in Jnanajyothi auditorium, Bengaluru.

H.S. Raghavendra Rao, critic and literary theoretician, will deliver the convocation address. M.C. Sudhakar, former Minister of Higher Education, will be part of the ceremony.

On the occasion, 18 gold medals and rank certificates will be distributed. A total of 1,081 students who completed their Bachelor’s (B.Sc., B.CA.) and Postgraduate (M.Sc.) degrees in the academic years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 will be conferred with degrees.
