Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan on Saturday directed the withdrawal of suspension of a higher secondary school Principal.

Javad S., Principal of Government Model Boys Higher Secondary School, Attingal, had been suspended by the Director of General Education on Friday on the charge of allegedly sharing through his Facebook account content insulting the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister or his office had not made any complaint in this regard. The suspension order was issued on the basis of an outside complaint. The action against the teacher was taken just two days before his retirement. Taking this into consideration, the Chief Minister ordered the rollback of the suspension order, a statement from the office of the Chief Minister said.

Earlier in the day, government employees and teachers under the banner of the Federation of State Employees and Teachers Organisations took out a protest march to the Directorate of General Education seeking cancellation of the suspension order. They alleged that no preliminary investigation had been conducted before suspending Mr. Javad. The government stance that no one should criticise the Chief Minister was anti-democratic. They also warned of an Assembly march on June 2.
