A private hospital in Kukatpally has been booked following allegations of medical negligence in the death of a 55-year-old man after gallstone surgery.

The deceased, identified as Ummalla Mallayya, a resident of Ramayyapalli village in Peddapalli district, was admitted to Ananya Hospital in Kukatpally on May 26 for treatment of gallstone.

According to the police, Mallayya underwent surgery at the hospital but later developed severe abdominal pain. The family alleged that despite repeatedly informing the doctors about his worsening condition, his complaints were ignored and the pain was dismissed as normal post-surgery symptoms.

Mallayya continued to suffer from the pain before dying on Thursday morning.

Following the incident, his family lodged a complaint with the Kukatpally police alleging that medical negligence led to his death.

Police said a case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
