Samajwadi Party (SP) chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday (May 27, 2026) attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over alleged power supply disruption and said in the upcoming elections, people would “wash and thrash the BJP and hang it out to dry forever”.

In a post on X, Mr. Yadav said, “Thankfully, the ‘failed Chief Minister’ of Uttar Pradesh did not say that this ‘massive electricity disaster’ was the result of a conspiracy by emissaries sent from Delhi.” He also questioned the absence of the State’s Power Minister from review meetings chaired by the Chief Minister.

“In the next election, the public will thoroughly wash and thrash the BJP and hang it out to dry forever,” he added.

“It should be clarified whether the Power Minister does not attend the Chief Minister’s review meetings or is not invited. If he does attend, then the Chief Minister should post a photograph with his hand on the Minister’s shoulder. People may at least get some relief from the warmth between the two, because they have never seen both of you together in private,” Mr. Yadav said.

The SP leader further alleged that under BJP rule, Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) personnel have to be deployed at electricity substations and that BJP legislators and MPs are writing letters against their own government to escape public anger. “There is no current left in the BJP anymore,” he added.
