Andhra Pradesh has emerged as a pioneering State in using artificial intelligence (AI) in the medical and health fields, said Minister for Health, Medical Education, and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav.

Participating in the grand finale of the MedTech Innovation Challenge organised in Mangalagiri on Tuesday (May 26, 2026), the Minister promoted AI-based diagnostic tests, stating that these not only provide accurate results but also improve the speed of delivery of healthcare services and make these tests affordable for people.

The department had launched the MedTech challenge in November 2025 in association with Ratan Tata Innovation Hub and A.P. Innovation Society to identify, evaluate, and integrate innovative medical technologies that enhance the efficiency and reach of healthcare services.

Out of 297 applications from researchers and innovators, 18 were shortlisted to demonstrate their technologies, spanning four categories, in government hospitals across the State. On Tuesday, the Minister presented cash prizes to winners in each category and also gave appreciation certificates to start-ups that provided the best results.

Calling it an important upgrade in health and medical field, the Minister said AI can bring about revolutionary changes in agriculture, education, and social development sectors, but there needs to be an implementation strategy in place.

National Health Authority Joint Secretary Kiran Gopal, Shiv Kumar, founder of Swasth Alliance, State Health Secretary Saurabh Gaur, Health and Family Welfare Commissioner G. Veerapandian, Director of Secondary Health K.V.N. Chakradhara Babu, and other officials participated in the programme.

The winners are: Solicit Technologies (AI-Powered Diagnostics category), Remidio Innovative Solutions Pvt Ltd (Portable Point-of-Care Testing category), CareNX Innovations (Smart Monitoring and Wearables category), Rejuven India in the Remote Care and Telemedicine category.

Mr. Veerapandian also announced details of eight other companies that secured first runner-up and second runner-up positions across the four categories.
