The Narsingi police arrested a 32-year-old man for driving a car at over 200 kmph on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and uploading a video of the stunt on social media.
The accused was identified as Kothapally Yashwanth Reddy, a private employee and resident of Alkapur Township in Puppalguda.
According to Narsingi Police Inspector G. Hari Krishna Reddy, a complaint was lodged on May 19 by road patrolling officer Karingula Sairam stating that an unidentified person was driving his sedan bearing temporary registration at an extremely high speed from Narsingi toll plaza towards TGPA toll plaza on the ORR on May 10 at around 10.30 a.m.
The official said the vehicle was driven in a rash and negligent manner at speeds exceeding 200 kmph, posing a serious threat to other motorists and toll plaza staff. The act was recorded on a mobile phone and uploaded on Instagram under the name “Yashwanth Reddy”.
Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under Sections 125 and 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and launched an investigation.
During the probe, the accused was identified and apprehended. Police said Yashwanth Reddy admitted that he had purchased the car in April this year and drove the vehicle at around 200 kmph on the ORR “to check its condition”. The vehicle involved in the offence was seized by the police.
