MP M. Sribharat said that the State government is making its plans to inaugurate International Airport at Bhogapuram by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on July 5. He said that the preparations for the inaugural are progressing at a good pace.

Speaking to the media during a programme in the city on Saturday (May 23, 2026), the MP stated that the commencement of flight operations immediately after the airport inauguration is a natural progression. In this context, he welcomed the announcement by Scoot Airlines that it would commence international services from Bhogapuram Airport starting July 8. He expressed confidence that several other domestic and international airlines would soon announce their operations from the new airport.

MP Sribharat advised passengers who have already booked tickets from the existing Visakhapatnam Airport for travel after July 8 to verify from which airport their flights would operate. He cautioned that passengers could face inconvenience if they arrive at the old airport without confirming the updated flight details.

He added that, just as Scoot Airlines has already informed its passengers, other airline managements are also expected to communicate directly with travellers regarding the airport location change. He appealed to the public to remain alert and stay updated about the transition.

“The State Government has laid special focus to improve road connectivity and public transport facilities to the airport for the convenience of passengers. He said arrangements are being made to ensure the availability of buses, cabs, auto-rickshaws and other transport services, especially for passengers, who rely on public transportation,”, he said.

The MP concluded describing the Bhogapuram International Airport as a major milestone in the development of the North Andhra region. He said the airport would significantly boost tourism, information technology, industrial growth, and employment opportunities across the region.
