The Supreme Court on Monday (September 22, 2025) refused to intervene in favour of actor Jacqueline Fernandez, who had challenged a Delhi High Court order dismissing her plea to quash money laundering proceedings initiated against her by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED).

Appearing before a Bench headed by Justice Dipankar Datta, senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi for Ms. Fernandez said she had only ‘gifts’ from Sukesh Chandrasekhar, an alleged conman accused in a ₹200-crore money laundering case.

Ms. Fernandez said the case against her was a “camouflage” of failed MCOCA charges the authorities had tried to frame on her.

Justice Datta orally observed the allegations was that the laundered money from Mr. Chandrasekhar had reached her in the form of “gifts”. The court however said any observations made by the High Court would not prejudice her efforts to seek further relief from courts.
