Officials in the Drugs Control Administration of NTR District stated on Tuesday (May 19, 2026) that necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the uninterrupted availability of medicines to the public in the district, in view of the proposed nationwide bandh on Wednesday (May 20).

All India Organisation of Chemists & Druggists (AIOCD) gave the call for the bandh against illegal online medicine sales. NTR District Chemists and Druggists Association and The Krishna District Wholesale Drug Trade Association are participating in the bandh.

Medical shops in important centres, located on the hospital premises, clinics and nursing homes, generic medical shops and MedPlus stores functioning in NTR district will remain open, officials said.

Further, all drugs inspectors of NTR district have been instructed to closely monitor the field situation and coordinate with medical shop operators and hospital authorities for ensuring uninterrupted supply and availability of medicines during the bandh period. Emergency contact numbers and lists of operational medical shops have also been arranged for the convenience of the public.
