A Class 8 student drowned in the Thevara-Konthuruthy backwaters here on Friday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Asher Antony, 13, son of Martin, a native of Nettoor. The boy was reportedly swept away by strong currents when he was swimming.
The body was found by divers from the Fire and Rescue Services after an hour-long search. The body was shifted to the Ernakulam General Hospital.
