Information Kerala Mission (IKM), an autonomous body tasked with computerising and networking all local self-government institutions in the State, will relaunch the official website of the Kozhikode Corporation in two months.

The digital overhaul follows a prolonged period in which the Corporation’s online presence was reportedly criticised as obsolete. The project is aimed at modernising the platform that has remained stagnant for some time and has been plagued by missing sections and a lack of regular updates.

According to an official attached to the IKM, work on the website is progressing apace. “The portal will undergo a complete interface change,” the official said. “It will feature regular updates on the minutes of council meetings, financial statements, standing committee decisions, annual plans, and several other administrative sections that have not been updated on the existing website,” he added.

Separate sections for the hearing committee, water committee, health office, and health circle are also expected to be included in the reworked website. A section for the Right to Information (RTI) Act will also be incorporated. The redesigned website will also integrate various e-governance services, including e-payment facilities for property tax and building permit fees.

Users will be able to access e-services such as birth and death certificates, marriage certificates, social security pension details, building permits, and government orders. E-filing services will also be made available. These services will redirect users to official government portals, making applications and services easier to access and navigate.

The website will also feature a Geographical Information System (GIS), a digital mapping system that allows users to view and analyse spatial and location-based information. The system will help users understand municipal infrastructure and service locations through interactive maps.

Once launched, the updated website is expected to serve as an accessible digital platform for retrieving information on the services provided by the Corporation.
