The Thiruvananthapuram Rural police have intensified the investigation into the sexual assault of a woman at the Kattakada KSRTC bus station on Saturday (May 9, 2026).

According to the police, the suspect, identified as ‘Bruce Lee’ Shibu, is suspected to have fled to Tamil Nadu.

The suspect had reportedly arrived at Kattakada to peddle ganja. Based on the information, the investigators have widened the probe by questioning people who are suspected of buying the contraband regularly from him.

The incident took place inside the bus station. The Kattakada police have registered a case based on the statement of the survivor, a mentally challenged woman, recorded with the assistance of a psychiatrist.

Meanwhile, the KSRTC launched an internal inquiry into the alleged leak of CCTV visuals of the assault from the depot.
