The Cyberabad Police Commissioner has directed Deputy Commissioner of Police (Kukatpally Zone) Ritiraj, to personally supervise the investigation into the PoCSO case registered at Petbasheerabad police station, based on a statement by a 17-year-old girl.

According to official orders issued on Monday (May 11, 2026), the officer was directed to ensure that the investigation is conducted in a fair, proper and professional manner by examining all relevant aspects of the case without deviation or negligence.

The order further directs the DCP to personally monitor the progress of the investigation and submit a daily status report to the Commissioner of Police.

The case was registered under Sections 74 and 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita read with Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (PoCSO).

Meanwhile, the Telangana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has taken suo motu cognisance of the matter following widespread media reports and social media posts regarding allegations in the case that the 17-year-old girl was sexually abused during New Year celebrations at a farmhouse in Moinabad.

In its communication, the Commission said it was treating the allegations with seriousness and directed the Cyberabad Commissioner of Police to conduct an enquiry and initiate necessary action.

The Commission has also sought a status report on priority. The statutory body, constituted under the Commissions for Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005, is mandated to monitor implementation of child protection laws including the PoCSO Act and the Juvenile Justice Act.

The development comes amid continuing protests by women’s groups demanding swift action in the case. The police officials said the investigation is progressing and all aspects of the complaint are being examined.
