A sub-inspector of the Elamakkara police station was suspended on Sunday (May 10, 2026) after being booked in two separate cases involving allegations of sexual harassment, intimidation, and attempted extortion by misusing a narcotics investigation.

The accused, Mujeeb H., was absconding after cases were registered against him. The alleged incidents took place in 2025.

The officer allegedly obtained a woman’s phone number from the call list of an accused in a narcotics case. He reportedly misused the number to make sexual advances and threatened to implicate her in the narcotics case when she rejected his demands.

The officer also allegedly extorted ₹1.5 lakh from a doctor by blackmailing him after obtaining his number from the call list of the accused in the drugs case.

The officer has been booked for outraging the modesty of a woman in the first case and charged with extortion and criminal intimidation in the second case.
