Congress workers Workers on Thursday (May 7, 2026) blocked the Agra-Mumbai National Highway in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore over protest on farmers’ issues.
The demonstration, held in the Pigdambar area as part of the Congress’s State-wide ‘chakka jam andolan’, led to long queues of vehicles on both sides of the highway.
National president of the Adivasi Congress Vikrant Bhuria accused the BJP government of ignoring farmers’ problems and failing to ensure the minimum support price (MSP) for agricultural produce.
Mr. Bhuria alleged irregularities in the State government’s soybean ‘Bhavantar Yojana’ and claimed that mandis, or market yards, had become hubs for corporates.
He said the agitation over farmers’ issues would continue in phases. “In the end, if we have to grab someone’s collar, we will do that too,“ Mr. Bhuria said.
