Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday (May 5, 2026) raised questions over the role of the Election Commission of India (ECI) in West Bengal.

“The role of the EC played a significant part in the results besides other factors. The easiest explanation for the West Bengal result is the serious curtailing of voter list. Voters found their names deleted. Something is not right,” said Mr. Abdullah, in an interview to a news agency.
