With the West Bengal Assembly Elections getting ready for the big verdict, early trends by the Election Commission of India (ECI) have indicated that All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee is leading by over 898 votes against her nearest rival Suvendu Adhikari from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bhabanipur seat. The latest figures were shared by the ECI (around 11:00 A.M.) after the third round of counting on Monday (May 4, 2026).

According to the ECI, Mr. Adhikari has secured 8,461 votes, while Ms. Banerjee polled 9,351 votes in the third round. Significantly, this arrives after Adhikari showed a clear lead of around 1,500 votes against Banerjee in the second round. The counting of votes for the West Bengal polls is underway, amid tight security arrangements across centres in the State.
