Tamil Nadu will experience above-normal maximum and minimum temperatures in May. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast above-normal rainfall this month, offering some respite.

In its outlook released on Friday, the IMD also outlined the likely impact of increased temperature, including on agriculture, and issued an  agromet advisory. The State’s coastal region so far as the Cauvery delta districts is expected to record three-five heatwave days. Sizzling weather scorched the State in April with above-normal daytime temperatures. The IMD has forecast the mercury levels may remain above average in most parts of the State this month, except in some Western Ghats districts. Nights may be warmer as the minimum temperature may increase above normal.
