The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) will collect 1 paise per unit as fuel surcharge from monthly and bimonthly billed consumers in May. The surcharge is aimed at recovering the additional spending on power purchases due to the change in the cost of fuel in thermal generating stations for the month of March. The KSEB has pegged the amount to be recovered at ₹1.58 crore in March. The surcharge will be applicable to all consumers except domestic consumers with connected load below 1000 watts and monthly consumption below 40 units and green tariff consumers.
