What does Kerala’s living heritage look like? ‘Veru’, an exhibition that opens at David Hall, Fort Kochi, on May 2, showcases the many layers of Kerala’s regional heritage through the very people who sustain it. From the ancient temples at Olappamanna to the multicultural narratives of Mattancherry or the documentation of a river valley heritage project, ‘Veru’ would take you through the land, its people and their shared histories.

Organised by Dharinni, an ecology and heritage conservation trust, the event will be a gathering of individuals and organisations from different disciplines who have been building regional narratives, says Gisny George, the founder of Dharinni.  “Veru is a people-driven, people-centred initiative where heritage is experienced, not just observed. It will be a space where those working to preserve regional heritage in their own capacities showcase their journeys,” she adds.
