Nursing student rescued from Periyar valley canal dies

A nursing student who had been undergoing treatment after being rescued from the Periyar valley canal at Asamannoor near Perumbavoor died on Wednesday (April 29, 2026).

The deceased was identified as Emil Sunil, 21, a native of Manarcadu in Kottayam. He had been on ventilator support since the incident. With this, the death toll in the accident rose to three.
