A 16-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by unidentified persons near Cheyyar town in Tiruvannamalai. The police said the survivor was on a visit to her grandmother’s village near the town on April 19. While she was riding a two-wheeler in the village, unidentified persons on motorcycles stopped her. They sexually assaulted her and fled the spot. The police said she returned to her native place in Kancheepuram, where her health deteriorated. The assault came to light after she was admitted to a hospital. Based on a complaint, a case was registered by the Bharmadesam police near Cheyyar.
