Construction of a six-storey building at the Government Taluk Hospital, Thuravoor has entered its final phase.

Officials said that 91% of the work has been completed. The new 6,374.81 sq m building is being constructed on 62 cents of land at a cost of ₹51.40 crore, sanctioned under the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB).

Once completed, the structure, with hi-tech facilities including a trauma care unit, gynaecology wing, three major operation theatres, a CT scan centre, an X-ray unit and 150 inpatient beds, will place the hospital, situated beside National Highway 66, among the top government medical facilities in Alappuzha district.

The foundation stone of the building was laid in September 2019. Painting, aluminium partition works, sanitary fittings, and similar tasks are currently progressing. Officials said the aim was to complete the building this year itself and dedicate it to the people. The work is being carried out by the Kerala State Housing Board.

In the last Budget, the State government allocated ₹2 crore for land acquisition and for constructing a mortuary building at the taluk hospital.
