Union Minister Suresh Gopi on Wednesday (April 22, 2026) visited the site of the devastating fireworks explosion at Mundathikode near Thrissur in Kerala and assessed the situation, as investigations gathered pace with a strong forensic focus.

Forensic experts are currently examining the blast site, and the Minister said more clarity is expected after detailed analysis. “Further inspections will be carried out using additional cadaver dogs to aid the search,” he told mediapersons, underlining that forensic examination would be the priority in the probe. He added that crucial samples need to be collected from the site to establish the cause of the explosion.
