With two days to go for the first phase of the Assembly election in West Bengal, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on Monday (April 20, 2026) said elections in the State would be held in a “free and transparent” manner.

“In these elections of West Bengal, the Election Commission of India (ECI) will leave no stone unturned to hold free, fair and transparent elections,” Mr. Kumar said in a statement.
